Natural Mama Favorite Mother’s Day Gifts for under $50

Every once in a while, it’s nice to be treated. And for hardworking mamas, that doesn’t necessarily mean a full day at the spa with costly treatments or even a fancy dinner out (although those things are great, too!). For this mama, some of my favorite gifts are the small ones that brighten up my everyday. And these days, you can boost the impact of your gift by shopping local to support small business owners, shop fair trade items to give a gift with global impact, or select a gift that is all natural and organic to promote longterm health and wellness. All of these are accessible ways to show you care without spending a ton of money. I’ve put together a collection of items that I would love to receive myself as a mother, all items under $50 (a gift doesn’t have to be expensive to be enjoyed). Hopefully this will be a helpful reference for those looking to treat a special mama in your life!

Soy Candle by Bright Endeavor – $12.99
These candles are created by low-income mothers in Chicago who are working secure quality employment and begin working toward professional success through the Bright Endeavors programming. So, when you purchase a candle you are helping these mothers succeed! What a great way to give mom a lovely scent to fill her home, and help other moms in the process. I’m also a big fan of these handmade candles by a local Midwest artisan (Blue Sage + Juniper is my favorite scent!): Farm House Candle Co.

Blessed Mama T-shirt – $15 to $25
There are a lot of variations on this theme — so you can choose the one that suits your mama best. Shopping on Etsy means you’ll be supporting small business owners, many of them mothers themselves!

All Natural Make-up – $12 to $16
If you saw my post about switching over to all natural/organic makeup products, you’ll know what a huge process this can be for women. Most of us wear makeup daily (or at least regularly) and the impact of what we put on our skin can make a lasting difference in our health! That’s something to be conscious of, especially when how we are feeling has a ripple effect on the many people in our lives that we support (husbands, children, friends, etc.). Small items like a cream eyeshadow or lip tint are easy ways to start incorporating healthier, non-toxic items into a daily beauty routine and these are two of my favorites: HAN Natural Cheek and Lip Tint, Lauren Brooke Cosmetiques Cream Eyeshadow

Puracy Organic Hair & Skin Set – $39.99
Along those same lines, using nontoxic shampoo, conditioner, body wash and body lotion can truly make a different in your health! As many young moms know, taking a shower (alone) in and of itself can be a real treat, and I always enjoy having new products to use in the shower. I’ve used the Puracy brand for my childrens’ body wash/shampoo for the last several months and have been very happy with it. I may have to treat myself to this hair and skin set!

Prayers For My Children Prayer Cards – $12.00
I love just about everything on The Daily Grace Co. website. OK, OK, EVERYTHING. But these prayer cards strike me as particularly poignant for a Mother’s Day gift. Children are a gift from the Lord, and our prayers for them are one of the ways the Lord works to sanctify the hearts of both mothers and their children…. and really the whole family! So, these would be an ideal gift for mothers of any age looking for inspiration and consistency in their prayer life. Or, just give her a big ‘ol gift card to The Daily Grace Co. and she’ll love you forever! 😉

Kindle Gift Card – Any Amount
Speaking of gift cards, you will always find my reading something on my Kindle (whether or not I fall asleep doing so is another matter) and you really can’t go wrong with the gift of a good book. A Kindle gift card, and maybe even some recommendations for your favorite reads, is a great Mother’s Day gift.

Personalized Mug – $8-$10
I feel like a mug is one of the most prototypical Mother’s Day gifts ever. And so, normally, I would say steer clear of a “boring” gift like that… but as a daily coffee drinker, I really do have favorite mugs and I find it makes my mornings more enjoyable to use a pretty one. Here’s the trick: it doesn’t have to say “mom”. In fact, choose something more personalized to let your mom know you thought about what she would enjoy. Whether it’s a Bible verse, a fun floral or pretty print, or even her monogram (check Etsy!), a cute mug that she can use to drink coffee, tea, hot chocolate or whatever, will always make her think of you.

And really, you don’t have to get your mother anything. But a card or a phone call is always appreciated! Time and love shown is worth more than all the gifts in the world. Now, doesn’t that sound like something your mother would say? 😉
