Natural Mama Favorite Mother’s Day Gifts for under $50

Every once in a while, it’s nice to be treated. And for hardworking mamas, that doesn’t necessarily mean a full day at the spa with costly treatments or even a fancy dinner out (although those things are great, too!). For this mama, some of my favorite gifts are the small ones that brighten up my everyday. And these days, you can boost the impact of your gift by shopping local to support small business owners, shop fair trade items to give a gift with global impact, or select a gift that is all natural and organic to promote longterm health and wellness. All of these are accessible ways to show you care without spending a ton of money. I’ve put together a collection of items…

Master Bath Reno

I have a lot of little projects going on around the house these days (spring cleaning, yay!), but one of the biggest items on the list is our Master Bathroom Renovation. This has been on our list pretty much since we moved in… not because it’s in really bad shape, but primarily because it’s a place in the house where DH and I both spend a lot of time, and we’d really enjoy some reasonable cosmetic upgrades. We’re not moving walls or anything; primarily just new finishes to upgrade the current space. And, since this year is our 10th wedding anniversary (what?!?) we agreed it was a worthwhile investment to “gift” each other a refreshed space. Currently: April 2018

Enjoying I’m back on board the meal planning train, after several interruptions, and looking forward to salad season! I had a good routine going with meal planning and grocery shopping that was interrupted last spring when early pregnancy nausea made pretty much everything unappealing. I’m still fine-tuning…

Fun, Frustrating, Flexible: The Life of a Work-From-Home Mom

He will be two years old in November and, to date, this anniversary marks some of the most pleasant years of my life. Not the easiest, to be sure, but certainly the most fulfilling. Although there is still much to anticipate and accomplish in life, I feel blessed to say that I am currently in a state of complete contentment. And that means gratitude. Lots of it. That being said, contentment is not necessarily synonymous with complacency or personal convenience. Each day brings its own challenges, especially as a work-from-home parent….

…This Fallen Place Home

It’s been about two years since we move to Indiana and around the same time I shifted this blog from “Real Housewife of Chicago” to “The Hoosier Homemaker”, choosing the tagline “Making Indiana Home Sweet Home” to summarize my sporadic blogging moments. It still fits, but the depth of the statement hit me again this morning. I keep an iPhone charger plugged into my car and pop it in whenever I’m driving (since my phone seems to be dying faster and faster these days). Every time I connect, my iTunes starts auto-playing in the car and the first song to come up is Abraham by John Tibbs. I’ve listened to this song many times over the last several weeks (since it always comes on first…
