Alrighty then. Just got back from the theatre. We
saw Mr. & Mrs. Smith and (for what it’s worth) it was partially
entertaining. I’m not a huge fan of Brad Pitt and Angelina Joli doesn’t
quite strike my fancy either. I guess it was kinda funny  though.

As far as my vacation goes, it was everything I
hoped it would be: relaxing, sunny, informative (heehee) and overall
goodtimes. My extended family gets together every summer for one week
at a resort type place in souther Georgia called Callaway Gardens. Our
week-long reunion has, over the course of these past 14 years, been
dubbed “Cousins Week at Callaway” considering the number of us who tend
to take over the place for our given week (it now comes to 29
grandchildren and who knows how many all told including the aunts,
uncles and even second cousins ). The week started out a bit slow
for me. I know, hard to imagine that it would take time to get used to
a vacation–even within summer vacation–but I guess this year was just
a little different. Nonetheless, after a couple days of some amazingly
fun tennis clinics (take me on!!), many hilarious conversations and one
brutal game of Monopoly, I settled right into the swing of things and
proceeded into a very satisfactory week of catching up with the
cousins. Conclusion: I absolutely love my family and God has truly
blessed me to be a member of the Jordan clan (including the Weavers of
course!)

A few special memories:

Playboy at the ski pavilion
Scotty’s Starburst –  pre-packaged, right?
Star-gazing on Robin Lake beach
Jen – “All I wanted was a t-shirt!!”
Daniel the tennis instructor – proof of my immense talent at “the game”
Rolicking moments at the Monopoly board – “Ouch!!!!”
“Storytime” with Giles, Elizabeth, Julia, and Jen

The million mile bike ride to the Discovery Center
“Who’s my baby’s Daddy?!” – Elizabeth
“I felt so oppressed.” – Jen

And so many more . . . all goodtimes! Pictures soon perhaps!

So I just got off work and I’m sittin here eatin my swedish fish and
about to watch a schweet chick flick with my sistahs and all in all I
am pretty satisfied. Work was CRAZY busy because two movies came out
today (Wedding Crashers and Willy Wonka…) and my feet hurt like crazy
but it was overall an amusing 8 hours. Most of my co-workers are
officially crazy and I love them for it and apparently I have some
amazing dimples. Canton-folk are great. And tomorrow I go on
vacatione!!!! So. I’m in a pretty good mood. Much better than last
night. Hope everyone has a good weekend. I won’t be online or anything
for the next week, but call the cell and I’m pretty sure I’ll answer!
Love. Byebye.

Bathing suit shopping is the absolute worst way to end an already bad
day. And that is my conclusion. Also, that I am a stupid-head. And
perhaps a lie-face.

So work today started out not so bad . . . but got progessively worse
because not only was I working with some folks that were not very fun
but also the power went off at about 6:00 and stayed off for the next
hour or so. Which meant angry movie-goers and lots of refunds. Yuck.
But I did end up getting off a half-hour early.

But then I come home with a message for me from the mother of the
children whose portraits I’m supposed to be working on. So I call her
back to let her know they’re not gonna be finished on time because of
my work hours (which are all day almost every day and leave no time
–right now anyway– for extra stuff). So I call and stupidly leave a
message on her home answering machine, completely forgetting that this
whole portrait thing is a surprise for her husband’s birthday, not
realizing that he would probably hear the message and discover the
secret gift. And he did. Now I feel incredibly bad because not only
did I ruin the surprise (all because of my lack of forethought) but
it’s also not gonna be ready in time for his birthday because we’re
going on vacation next week and I definitely won’t be able to work on
it then. So boo to ALL of THAT.

And then I decide to go find a new bathing suit for this vacation that
we’re taking and that was just about the worst idea ever. Bathing suit
shopping is depressing (for me anyway) and the only reason I had
forgotten that is because while living in a frozen tundraland for the
past nine months (aka Michigan) it had slipped my mind that such a
thing as bathing suit season even existed!!!!

To top it off, my back really hurts and a massage is the only thing I
really want right now. In retrospect, this day would have been better
if I hadn’t made some stupid choices. But I can look forward to the
lovely feeling that is lying in my bed and savouring the summer night
sounds and listening to Iron & Wine. Yes. That is nice. Goodnight.

lately she don’t care

for a warmer breeze

or shade around the base

of the maple trees

spring was on the mountain

we climbed upon

stopped to see how high

and how far we’d gone

i said, ‘love is waiting

and better days’

she smiled and placed a kiss

on my waiting face

promise what you will

something good for me

time will take it all

and it will, you’ll see

These lyrics are nice….rather poetic. Just got off work. Not really
tired, but just kinda worn out. Probably go to bed early. Met some nice
people though and had some cool/funny/good conversations. And that’s
all. Night

So this hurricane is apparently hitting Georgia
pretty hard, cause it’s been raining every day for a week now. And not
just normal rain….it comes complete with thunder, lightning, winds,
and just buckets of water pouring from the sky. Not that I’m really
complaining. I just hope it’s sunny next week when I go on holiday.
Work has been pretty normal. I still haven’t seen any new
movies all the way through (I just watch what little I can during my
breaks–cause it’s free for me!); but, to be honest, none of them that
I’ve seen have been worth sitting all the way through anyway.
    Also . . . . well . . . nothing. I’m enjoying
myself. Oh yeah, I was gonna say that it just wouldn’t be summer
without the sound of the cicadas outside my window every evening. As
annoying as some people may find it, to me its one of the most
comforting things in the world and it just makes me feel at home.
Everything seems at peace when you can just sit outside on a warm
summer evening and listen to the cicadas buzzing away in the trees.
*sigh* Life is good.
