Well I had a very eventful and very fun weekend. 🙂

Friday night involved a late night showing of The Little Mermaid (I
know this seems impossible to beat…) and Saturday was just about the
most entertaining road trip I’ve ever been on. En route to a wedding in
Saginaw (with Brian Hukee and Mark Erickson), we managed not only a
flat tire on the way there (this caused us to miss the actual
ceremony…which was beautiful….but we made it to the reception), but
also a two hour jaunt through the Walmart while the tire was being
fixed before the drive back. And still at the end of the day, we made
it back safe and sound with plenty of good cheer. And today
(which was sunny and lovely) involved a lovely church service even
though Dr. Willson is out of town, an almost full viewing of Lock,
Stock and Two  Smoking Barrels and an education KKG recruitment
workshop. Whew.A full weekend and another full week yet ahead. Then off
to Chicago for the long Labor Day weekend!

I am one of the ten sad pages of people from Hillsdale who have decided
to list their relationship status on Facebook as “single”. Does that go
to say that I’m content with my status and have no problem listing it
as so or am I simply too apathetic to notice that there must be some
people who have decided  to keep that information to themselves
and I’m just desperate enough to make it public knowledge?? *sigh*

Karen and I joined the fun at Olds this evening for the inter-dormitory
meetings on Vanessa’s hall. There were root-beer floats and everything.
But then Karen barfed….I mean spilled hers all over the floor. And
then she ate it out of the trashcan…or somesuch…. Not to mention
Transy the Dinosaur. Yikes.

So the first day of classes went pretty well but I think I’m gonna have
a difficult time with Latin…as usual. Modern British Lit with
Somerville is going to be GREAT …. I think. I’m looking forward to
sculpture tomorrow. 🙂

First day of classes…and they don’t even start till 10:00 for me.
Sweet. Of course, I still woke up at 8:30 just because I’m cool like
that. Oh and I had to spend a minimum of an hour figuring out what I am
going to wear. It’s still not final.

I have Constitution with Giles, it turns out, which should not only be
fun but very advantageous for me since she is uber-organized and I can
just leech all the information I need from her….I mean….ahem….we
can study together….or somethin. I also have a class with Kristin but
I can’t remember which at this very moment in time and I’m too lazy to
check. ALSO, the ex-roomie has decided not to acquiesce to my request
and join Latin 5000 so [alas] I must go it alone. Of course she was
just getting me back for not wanting to go around kissing dummies. . .
. . (aka CPR training). . . .honestly, Karen, some people have morals.

Hope everyone has a GREAT first day of school and may all your dreams come true or somesuch stuff like that.

Yeah, that’s right….I’m listening to the Doobie Brothers….let the music play.

Classes start tomorrow. I’m ready and I’m not–the student’s paradox.

That’s about it. Nothing hugely new.

And here I am back in Hillsdale!!

We got back around 10:00 on Saturday night and I’ve been settling into
my room in the Suites since then. It is wonderful!! I get my own room
and it is absolutely swell. Yes, swell. Not to mention our rubber-ducky
decorated bathroom. That is uber-swell. Still getting stuff into my
room from the many storage places (Olds, Mauck) and trying to figure
out a decorating scheme. Anyone is welcome to stop by (Room 341)!

I’m enjoying just being here so much that I’m not sure I want classes
to start anytime soon, but I’m sure that when they do I’ll be happy.
I’m looking forward to all of them and I think this is going to be a
fun semester. Just the fact that I don’t have to be a poor little
freshman wandering around with no clue and no friends is a major plus.
I’m also pretty excited to meet those freshman too, from Vanessa
has said about the girls in her hall in Olds, it should be a great
class!

I’ll be posting pics soon of my *apartment* and roomies too!
