So I went to the Hillsdale county fair last night and saw a rodeo for
the first time in my life. Now, this is quite a special thing,
considering that although I am from the South (and proud of it) I have
never really experienced the phenomanon of a good down home rodeo. They
certainly have them back home, we just never went. So it was rather
interesting last night to sit amid those stands and watch one of the
most amusing (and possibly addictive) “sports”. And it was a good taste
of northern hick culture, too.
And that’s culture,
mind you, not the lack thereof. I’m being serious. I wish I had my
camera there…I could have taken so many good shots of just people
doing there thing. It was great. Guess I’ll have to wait till next year
to catalogue it though. Oh well. 🙂

Just so you can know where I’m usually running to…..
The end of another long, but rewarding week. Pick-up went soooo well.
We got the six best girls (of course :)). They’re all going to be real
assets to the house. That pretty much filled all of last
night…hanging around at the house, teaching cheers, playing charades,
and all-house Twister (!!). Plus, a late night showing of Team
America….
Nothing huge on the schedule for tonight. Just got back from the
football game (which we were losing…
). Perhaps a party, or two?
We shall see
Hope everyone has a great weekend!
A bit of a long day. Didn’t get as much sleep last night as I would
have liked (due in part to a rather long Kappa meeting) and have felt
pretty groggy all day. So I ended up taking a nap after work–starting
at about 1:30…hoping it would last a short hour so I would wake up in
time for sculpture….and I even set an alarm–but it lasted until
5:00! Which means that I slept through sculpture :-\. I think it will
be ok, though, because I was a little ahead of the class anyhow and I
think that was beginning to bug Frudakis.
Anywho, still staying busy as ever what with Call Team, working as a
student aide in Sage, Yearbook editing, classes, Kappa, and the list
goes on and on….but enjoying everything. 🙂 Just trying to keep up
with it all. So if you’ve been a little neglected lately, please accept
my sincere apologies. I shouldn’t have to schedule “other people” time
but at the rate I’m going, I may have too! I’m also getting ribboned
tonight for SAI (the first step in the process of joining….this makes
me a pledge…again). So that will be fun. And now I’m off to fix dinner. 🙂 Much love to all!!
I was just reminded of a lovely summer experience…..
We went camping for 4 days in the Mt. Pisgah National Forest in North Carolina and it was a LOT of fun. During the course of those days, at one point we managed to get a “bath” in a stream nearby one of our campsites. It was the coldest water I have ever felt (aside from maybe Christmas swim practices…) but it was very refreshing. A lovely mountain water bath….seriously, it was nice. However, what reminded of this experience was NOT so lovely. Our shower here in the Suites has been on the fritz and every once in a while (actually more often than not) we end up with a cold shower. This is not fun at all. It will start out warm for the first five minutes, so you’re thinking you’ll be ok….but then it strikes: the freezing water that refuses to warm up again…why, I ask, why? I’m not particularly upset…but mildly perturbed. This is my perturbed face. Right now. You can’t see it. Your loss.
Other than this, I am looking forward to a tasty dinner cooked by Gregory this evenig with many guests, a birthday bash at the Bench for Dean and perhaps a jaunt to the Mansion for the annual Black and White party. We shall see….
Well wishes to all for a great Friday! 🙂
