I just came in from playing catch with my younger sister (she’s on the
softball team at her high school) and I’ll be darned if it wasn’t the
funnest thing I’ve done all day: watching the sun set behind our house
below gilded clouds as the sky gradually turned indigo from pale blue;
the moon was only half-full but by the time we came in, it was shining
pretty brightly and there was at least one start out that I could see.
These are some of the things I love about being home in the summertime.
The weather is usually beautiful (even though during the day it can be
INCREDIBLY HOT/HUMD) and by evening it cools down so you can just sit
out on the back porch listening to the night sounds and watching the
fireflies come out. It’s loverly. Plus, memories of childhood are so
much stronger here (obviously…having grown up here); so it almost
seems as if I revert to a less “college/independent” self when I’m home
because 1) it’s what I’m used to and 2) I can get away with it
. The sad part is that I only have two summers like this left.
Anyhow, please pray that I will find a job soon because I need the
money and the occupation. Not that I don’t enjoy being lazy and going
to art every day (believe me, I love it!) but at this point my NEED for
the $$$ is much more pressing. That’s all, folks. ![]()

Yeah, I feel the same way, as far as the “less independant self” thing goes. I haven’t really done much with anyone outside my family since I’ve been back home.
