Went on a little adventure with my mother today and we had ourselves quite a good time . . . at the outlet mall, of course.
It’s beginning to surprise me (yet again) how quickly the time passes. Here were are not quite in the middle of June and yet the fact that we are in the month of JUNE still strikes me as somewhat odd. You mean it’s not last summer anymore? Or even September, just into classes? Or…wait a second….Christmas 2004 has come and gone? What? I know I must sound like a broken record on this topic of the passage of time, but when I write about it you must realize that it really is hitting me this hard. It is so bittersweet. I know there is much to look forward to, but I cannot help but look back into my memories of childhood and wish for the same idealisms that once graced my foolish little brain. Not that it isn’t still rather foolish–perhaps even more so–nonetheless, perspectives change. But I do like to think of it as merely a change in scenery. Essentially, I know where I’m coming from, what my purpose is and where home-base is; everything else that comes as goes cannot transcend the absolutes of faith. Which calls to mind good ol’ Nathaniel Hawthorne….how/why, you may ask, is one of my favourite authors a Trascendentalist? Well….because he’s got at least 50% of it right (and that’s more than most
.)
AND….
h2o is flippin sweet.

It IS wierd: I’m going to be 19 in July. NINETEEN! I mean, heck-that’s strange for me. It feels strange to be home for this extended period of time. It doesn’t feel the same as it does last year. I suppose this is just a natural part of life though.
And yes, Hawthorne kicks tail (although as far as American writers of the time go I think I prefer Poe…).

So true… I used to think about it a lot and now I just try not to because it tends to be so sad to me. But then I keep telling myself that today is not the past; tomorrow is another day. Cliches to be certain though still rather useful. I’ve decided that if I live remembering trascendental aperceptions then I will miss life.
Note: h2o is awesome, but Bombay Sapphire is Nectar (now if I could find my Ambrosia…)
Hope the summer is going well, Margaret. 🙂
