What a great weekend!!!
Went home to Monroe with Karen and Vanessa and spent all day Saturday
shopping! Don’t ask how much I spent, rather ask what marvelous
contributions I have made to my winter wardrobe. I assure you, the
latter will procure you a much sweeter answer. 
I must at least rave
about the coolest pair of herring bone pants ever and the best fitting
jeans I think I’ve ever owned. It was quite a success. The evening was
spent consuming large amounts of home-cooked lasagna (kudos to Mrs.
Miller) and watching a movie (Inventing the Abbots…only
so-so….kinda depressing) and, believe it or not, we made it to bed by
11:30 (much needed rest.) Sunday we went to church and returned to
Hillsdale thereafter loaded with clothing and plates of chocolate chip
cookies (again, Mrs. Miller rocks). 🙂 So, here are some pictorial

I promise I have a good reason for skipping Sculpture….and that
reason is, if I don’t catch up on my Constitution and Somerville
readings, I’m going to have some major
problems. Three extra hours in my afternoon will reallllly help. Not to
mention, Frudakis hasn’t really given any major instruction in the past
couple classes. I have photographs of the model from all angles and am
perfectly prepared to work outside of classroom time. That being said,
let me share this evening’s schedule with you. I have a Coke Date at
6:00 which will last till 7:00 at which point I have to rush up to
Central Hall to get in a couple hours of Call Team work before I have
to change and get to the SAI house for my initiation ceremony. By the
time that is over it will be nigh 10:00 and I still have Latin reading
to do. *sigh* This is the college life, and as much as I love it, it
can be stressful at times. Oh well. At least I got my fresh SAGA roll
at lunch. 
Despite the crazy business and lack of sleep, it was actually a pretty
good weekend. Kappa inititation went off without a hitch and I’m so
proud to call these 6 new girls my sisters! SAI Province Day also went
well, even with the impromptu pledge performance. Then the football
game, which we won! THEN the Roche dinner which was neat to go to and I
think it’s pretty cool the number of people that my grandfather knows.
I’m pretty sure he’s got a nationwide network and, if he ever chose to
do so, he could totally pull the strings to carry out a peaceful
takeover of the United States government that would really do us a
whole lot of good. After returning to Hillsdale from Jackson (where the
dinner was) I met up with Patrick and his sis Chelsea and the goodtimes
ensued. Needless to say, a couple house-parties later, I was warm and
snug in bed.
I can hardly believe it but in a little over two weeks we’ll be on
Thanksgiving break. It’s crazy how quickly the time is going, but
I’m trying to take it day to day. 
Well, thanks to my junior standing (which is just about the only
thing my AP credits are giving me right now….) I got registered
today. The following is my tentative schedule for spring semester:

10AM Science 101
11AM Art History – Renaissance to Modern (the prof for this one is really good, so I hear)
3PM Drawing III-IV (for this one, I have the same prof as I have right now for sculpture–should be an interesting transition)
T-TH
9:30AM Restoration/Romantic British Lit (w/ Whalen…the Provost)
12PM Ballet I (only on Tuesdays)
1PM Science 101 LAB (only on Thursdays)
2:30PM Seminar in Latin Poetry (poetry finally!!! no more boring histories… )
This schedule is a good one that I’m fairly happy with ( even though by
the time I got there the Smith Seminar on Shakespeare that I wanted to
take was already full). It fulfills the rest of my PE requirements and
part of my Science requirement (still working on that stupid Bio CLEP);
it also aids my Art studies (both the art history and drawing courses
count towards a major OR minor…haven’t decided which yet :-\) and of
course the English class counts toward the major and the Latin class
towards the minor. All in all, goodtimes. 🙂
ALSO, and much more importantly, I turned in my Somerville paper today
(!!) and I am actually moderately pleased with it. I’m sure I could
have used two more weeks and about five more revisions to perfect it,
but you can’t always get what you want. And I got a B+ on my Latin
midterm….which is not as high as I hoped, but good enough. I’m pretty
sure that it’s because he gave me (and only me…he gave us different
options of when to take it and I was the only one at my time slot) a
rather difficult sight translation. It’s times like those when I wish I
had a Latin-English dictionary installed in my brain. Or just a
language translator…..in my brain….that would be awesome-rific.
Anywho, that lifts a huge burden off my shoulders to have midterms out
of the way and that Somerville paper turned in. It has taken up a major
part of my life for the past month or so. Now all I’ve got is my SAI
Membership Exam tonight @ 7 (sooo much info to know… :-\), a Jordan
paper at the end of the month and then finals. My, how time flies when
you just turned in your biggest paper of the semester! 🙂
