Happy Easter!

Well I just returned from lovely Elkhart, Indiana and it was a beautiful, relaxing and fun weekend. Friday night was spent out with Patrick, Chelsea, Sean (for a little bit) and a bunch of Patrick’s friends–Brad, John, Nathan, Stacy, etc.–having an all around good time. Supposedly there was some drama going on between a couple of the girls who were there, but that’s the nice thing about being the “outsider”: I didn’t know them and, frankly, I didn’t care if they had problems because I was enjoying the atmosphere quite oblivious to any problems.

Saturday was pretty lazy: went shopping for a little while with Stacy and Chels and managed to get a sun-burn while out walking the dogs. Both good and bad,  because it gives me color but is also slightly painful! Saturday night we didn’t do too much but stay in and color Easter eggs, watch movies and “chaperone” for Sean and his friends.

Sunday we went to church (an interesting –contemporary– service to be sure . . . we all agreed it was a bit out of hand and regretted not getting up at 8am to get to the earlier traditional service); got our Easter baskets (woohoo!); had a lunch of corned beef and cabbage; watched tv and were generally lazy . . . until Chelsea was kind enough to take me back. Honestly, I didn’t want to leave for another week or so, but in general I’m glad I got to take a weekend off (out of Hillsdale, that is) and enjoy some “family” time.

Hope everyone had an equally relaxing weekend!

Interesting “debate” (more like discussion based on lots of questions) in religion today on the question “cur Deus homo?”.
More on that later . . .

But NOW, it’s the weekend and I’m off to Elkhart for Easter festivities!

I have a new  . . . cousin? I guess, first cousin-once removed…or is it second cousin? Anyhow, there’s a new baby in the family. First son of the eldest grandchild: John Arthur Leithart! Congratulations to Woelke and Megan! Hopefully we’ll see some pictures soon . . .

Alabama Court of Civil Appeals Judge Glenn Murdock testified on
Jordan’s behalf, describing him as a man of rigid character who
respects authority and doesn’t bend the rules.

“I don’t think God’s made a straighter arrow than Bert Jordan,” Murdock said.

Yep, that’s my uncle. Thank God for a lenient sentence (even if the jury’s findings were completely wrong): 6 months probation and $500 fine. Now we can only pray that the appeal will find him innocent.

What a gorgeously warm day.

The shrubbery outside my room window which was for so long brown and bare, has become white blossoms, budding and bursting into beautiful many-petaled flowers. Clearly it puts me in poetic mood. Music of the moment: Debussy’s Clair de Lune.

What could be more satisfying than stretching out on the warm grass to read a book, listening to the occasional twitter of birds–even they recognize the advent–and let the breeze caress your cheek?

The funk of yesterday has been lifted and this week has found a fresh start.

Formal was great! Despite a few unexpected turns, it turned out to be a lovely evening and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Kudos to the beautiful planner of this classy event: Lauren Brumley! What a trooper for pulling things together!

And now off to yet another week of classes . . . I’m amazed at how quickly this semester is slipping by.
