The CCA ( the first lecture of this particular series: C.S. Lewis and the Inklings)
was very interesting. The auditorium was packed, allowing me the
privilege of sitting in the EAR and watching the lecture on tv, but it
did not detract from the experience. The speaker, Walter Hooper, was
straight from jolly old England and had a lovely accent. He spoke
mostly about Lewis, Tolkien and their relationship as well as the
effect of Lewis’s conversion on his writing and overall character.
Hooper also mentioned several of the other Inklings in passing, notably
Hugo Dyson who played a role, along with Tolkien, in Lewis’s
conversion. Another lecture will be today at 4 and then again at 8.
Plus, a Kappa meeting at 6:30 till who knows when . . . at least I’ll
be keeping good company.
