I love how the old becomes new again: the forgotten is suddenly remembered and the flooding memory is a recalled revelation. I am absorbed with the idea that the new–foreign and threatening–reveals itself to be a recollection, strangely and beautifully made-over, of the past. That the sun rises again and anew each morning is a thrilling repetition of a perfect God-created order in this world–made each day to repeat a never-ending fact:

      “What has been will be again,
       what has been done will be done again;
       there is nothing new under the sun.”
                                            Ecclesiastes 1:9

And it’s inevitable conclusion:

      “In the day of prosperity be
          happy,
     But in the day of adversity
          consider–
     God has made the one as well as
          the other
     So that man will not discover
          anything that will be after
          Him.”
                                          Ecclesiastes 7:14

And all this from a song.
