I’ve noticed that if I can manage to wake up before the kids wake up, I have a much better day. This doesn’t happen nearly as often as I would like, but I can tell it makes a huge difference. Even my husband mentioned how nice it was to have some one on one time in the morning. Or maybe it was because we didn’t have Curious George in the background while we talked…
One thing that has helped me get up earlier is my new favorite thing…my automatic coffee maker. I didn’t want to just go out and buy a new coffee maker since ours was fine, but I did keep my eyes out for one just in case I saw a good deal. I went to a garage sale and hit the jackpot! I got a Krups automatic coffee maker with filters for 5 bucks! I was beyond excited. What’s even better is that it retails on Amazon for around $100. I’d say that’s a steal.
Can I just tell you what a huge difference it makes to wake up to coffee already made?
Who doesn’t love the smell of fresh coffee waffling through the air to entice you to wake up?
Once I get my coffee, I sit down and have my quiet time. Having time in the morning, to soak in the Bible while sipping on your coffee is simply wonderful. This is one of my favorite parts of the day, just me and Jesus…
Once in a while I can hear the sweet little pitter patters of feet coming to find me and we sit and cuddle. These times are so precious and sweet. I love that our children can witness first hand that we have quiet time and that we make it a priority to spend time with God.
Even if I only get a little bit of time to myself (or with my hubby) in the morning, I feel so much better. The day goes smoother and I feel like a better mommy. It’s even an added bonus if I get to take a shower and dare I say, shave my legs in the morning, too!
Do you get up early in the morning? I would encourage you to try it one day this week and see if you or your kids notice a difference. Can’t wait to hear how it went!
