The last couple of months have been a little crazy to say the least. I sold over 300 baby items at Here We Grow Again and made over $500! For a first time consignor I was pretty happy to get some money and clear out clothes that were taking up space. I’ve already started gathering clothes for the next sale in the fall, too. If there’s one thing that I learned from this sale, it’s that you need to start tagging early! (As in, not the last few days before the sale!)
Since we live so close to the zoo, we really wanted to get a pass this year. I was so thankful that we were able to get a membership to the zoo AND to Eagle Creek with the money we made from the sale. It may seem small, but we consider this a huge blessing.
So this summer, if we’re not at a park, we’ll be at the zoo or Eagle Creek taking full advantage of being outside!
I recently had the opportunity to work evenings and make a little bit of extra money. I was pretty hesitant at first, but honestly, its been a huge blessing! I’ve truly loved getting out of the house and doing something for myself. Plus, I don’t feel guilty over buying the $3.99 bouquet of flowers at Aldi now!
As you can imagine, I’ve been pretty tired lately. I don’t get home from work until after 11 pm and it usually takes me a little bit to unwind before I can get to sleep. Plus, our little man is still waking up a least once in the middle of the night – this makes for one tired momma!
I have to brag on my husband for a little bit. You see, he’s in charge of all the nightly duties. Supper, baths, story time, bedtime, (putting kids back in their beds at least once) and everything else in between! He’s been an absolute rock star dad and I think he has a new appreciation for us stay at home moms. (wink wink) And I have to say, he totally blew me out of the water when he took all 3 kids with him to get his hair cut! He’s been really amazing and I’m so thankful for him. My parents have also helped out when he is working late or has a meeting. This is the only way that I can work evenings, with the help of family.
The best part about this job is that it’s only for a season. It ends in the beginning of July, which means we can still go on a family vacation and make lots of memories as a family!
What I’ve learned from working…
- Enjoy each day with the kids. I’ve been intentional about trying not to over commit by saying “yes” to things. I’ve really been focusing on how I can truly enjoy the kids rather than checking off things on my to-do list.
- Giving myself grace. During this time, I simply have to let go of trying to make sure the house is always picked up, dishes put away, and laundry folded. I want to spend my time being present and hands-free with the kids instead.
- Being a working mom is HARD! I give you working mommas total props! It’s not easy leaving your babies every day!
I’m really surprised that I’m actually enjoying working part-time! The people I work with are mostly teachers as well and it’s been fun to have some adult interaction again.
In the next few weeks I have some AWESOME giveaways coming up that you don’t want to miss out on! I can’t wait to share them with you! (Both prizes are over $100 worth!!)
Have you ever worked a part-time job or have any advice for me?
